Today, the YHF visited Heart to Heart International’s global headquarters (based in Kansas City) to donate $2000, help organize supplies, and prepare care kits. It’s a great honor to work with an organization that helps in every corner of the world, from the Middle East to Liberia to Haiti.
Originally intended by Dr. Gary Morsch as a one-time million-dollar project in 1992 to help the people of Russia at the end of the Cold War, HHI quickly grew into the largest private airlift in US history (at the time) after its conception. Volunteers, civic groups, corporations, and even the US government pitched in. $5 million in medical supplies were loaded into a Lockheed C-5 Galaxy military cargo plane, flown to Moscow, and donated to hospitals. HHI now ships approximately $90 million in inventory annually, and counts 162 countries as past and present destinations.
